Franklin R. Nicholas, 73

McMinnville resident and Byrdstown native Franklin R. Nicholas, 73, died Feb. 27 at River Park Hospital after an extended illness.
A nursery worker and a member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Bercelle (Poore) and Joe H. Nicholas; and was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue (Robert) Nicholas; son Ricky Glenn Nunley Jr.; two sisters, and three brothers.
He is survived by daughters, Melinda S. and Ed Shockley, Melody A. and Stan Hillis, all of McMinnville; sons Dewayne F. Nicholas, Joe M. and Donna Nicholas, David W. and Tera Nicholas, all of McMinnville; sister Christene Medley of McMinnville; brothers Noble and Eidith Nicholas of Livingston, Arlen and Betsy Nicholas, Amos and Isabelle Nicholas, all of Byrdstown; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Crain Hill Cemetery with Anthony Campbell officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home.
Gardens of Memory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
