McMinnville resident and Byrdstown native Franklin R. Nicholas, 73, died Feb. 27 at River Park Hospital after an extended illness.A nursery worker and a member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Bercelle (Poore) and Joe H. Nicholas; and was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue (Robert) Nicholas; son Ricky Glenn Nunley Jr.; two sisters, and three brothers.He is survived by daughters, Melinda S. and Ed Shockley, Melody A. and Stan Hillis, all of McMinnville; sons Dewayne F. Nicholas, Joe M. and Donna Nicholas, David W. and Tera Nicholas, all of McMinnville; sister Christene Medley of McMinnville; brothers Noble and Eidith Nicholas of Livingston, Arlen and Betsy Nicholas, Amos and Isabelle Nicholas, all of Byrdstown; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Crain Hill Cemetery with Anthony Campbell officiating.
