Frances Marie Arnold, 98
Frances Marie Arnold

Frances Marie Arnold, 98, of McMinnville died Nov. 16.
Born in 1917 and raised in the San Francisco Bay area, she and her late husband lived and raised their family of four children for many years in their native California. While a young wife and mother, Frances was part of the “Rosie the Riveter” wave of patriots during World War II, serving as a fire patrol marshal in the Oakland, Calif., shipyards building the “Liberty” troop transport ships that were vital to the war effort.
She was married to the love of her life, Wesley M. Arnold for over 63 years before his passing in 2004 at age 90. Frances enjoyed many years of boating and outdoor activities with her family. A chance pleasure trip driving across the United States to view all the fall colors introduced the couple to the beauty of Tennessee where they migrated 35 years ago. Frances was best known locally for her years of crafting and her rag rug making skills.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her loving daughter and fellow crafter Lynn Goff and by grandson Craig Arnold Stiles, her motorcycle riding buddy.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Jan and Roger Stiles, Pat and Vic Castellano, son and daughter-in-law Ray and Niki Arnold, son-in-law Floyd Goff; grandchildren Lori (Jay) Cornelius, (Kelly) Stiles, Chuck Maranta, Russ Stiles, Chris Maranta, Justun (Sammy) Arnold, and Molly Sturdevant; honorary and step-grandchildren Tammy Grosch, Airali Kiss; Shayla, Bryant, and Kalyssa Priszner; great grandchildren Linsey (Houston) Youngblood, Vanessa Cornelius, Jessica Stiles, Josh Arnold, Laney Arnold, Remi Lynn Arnold, and great-great-granddaughters Skyler and Sloan Youngblood.
