Frances “Hoppy” Hayes, 87, of Smithville died Monday at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. She was a Baptist and a machine operator at the Smithville Shirt Factory. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ella Jane Fuson Hayes; three brothers, Alton, J.C., and Kenneth Hayes; and two sisters, Irene Hayes and Nannie Mae Eastes.Survivors include two brothers, Harry and Toy Hayes of Smithville; special sister-in-law, Jean Hayes; 11 nieces and nephews, Gena and Scott Cripps of Smithville, Aaron and Julie Hayes of Smithville, Candace Hayes of McMinnville, James and Kerrie Hayes of McMinnville, Modena and Kenny Johnson of Smithville, Pati and Al Gooch of Lebanon, Brenda Trimble of Hermitage, Linda Lane of Nashville, Rose Drake of Murfreesboro, Kim and Dale Nunley of McMinnville, Tracie Dunn of McMinnville; several great nieces and nephews and a great-great-nephew.
