Frances Coppinger Brown, 91, formerly of Chattanooga, died Friday, Nov. 25 in Beersheba Springs.
She was born Feb. 18, 1920 in Grundy County. Affectionately known as “Granny,” she was a warm and loving person whom many described as possessing “a heart of gold.” She was much loved by family and by many friends and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Carlos W. Brown Sr.
She is survived by her children, Sylvia (Jerry) Flowers of Macon, Ga., Norma Sparks of Beersheba Springs, Carlene (David) Gilstrap of Cleveland, Carlos (Susan) Brown Jr., of Noble, Ga., James F. “Jim” (Donna) Brown of Altamont, Cynthia Brown Cagle of Cleveland and William “Hank” (Kimberly Sisk) Brown of South Pittsburg; grandchildren, Christopher Flowers, Greg Flowers, Martina Brown, Anna Gilstrap, Jason Gilstrap, Johnny Brown, Angie Brown Haston, Gary Brown, Tabitha Ellis, Ashleigh Cagle and Nathan Cagle; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 1 to 2 p.m. at Grace Chapel Methodist Church. Services will follow Sunday at 2 p.m. at the church with Rev. Clayton Jones officiating.
