Evelyn Louise Pearson, 93, of Oak Ridge passed away Saturday, May 9, at Patriot Hills Assisted Living in Oak Ridge.
She was born Jan. 14, 1927 in rural Warren County, the daughter of Lawrence Eugene Pearson and Elizabeth Jane Smith Pearson. Miss Pearson worked for many years with the Atomic Energy Commission. She was one of 170 employees who served the commission faithfully throughout its entire history from 1947–1974. When AEC transitioned to the Department of Energy, she continued as an editorial assistant in the Production Support Branch, Production Management Division until her retirement July 3, 1985 with more than 40 years of service.
Miss Pearson was a longtime member of New York Avenue Church of Christ and worked over 20 years with the church Thursday School. She also served as a Gray Lady with Oak Ridge Hospital. Her favorite pastimes were birdwatching and traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother Ronald Lewis Pearson and nephew Ron E. Pearson.
She is survived by her great-niece, Carla Michelle Pearson Roehl and her daughter Olivia of Moore, S.C., and extended family, Betty Lane of Ooltewah, TN and her son, David and wife, Tiffany, and their children, McKenzie and Kendall, all of Harrison, TN.
Family and friends will meet for a graveside service on Thursday, May 14, at 2 p.m. (Central) at Gardens of Memory Memorial Gardens in McMinnville next to her parents. An online guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com.
