McMinnville resident and Kentucky native Eugene Malachi Scott, 89, was born June 7, 1923 and died June 4 at Manchester Health Care Center following an extended illness.A retired security officer with the city of Los Angeles, a member of Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church and a United States Navy veteran of World War II, he was the son of the late Henry and Janie Mae Mitchell Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Hester Knox Scott; and two sisters, Georgia Scott and Dorothy Garrett.He is survived by three sisters, Pauline G. Johnson of Silver Spring, Md., Delores S. Garrison of Moreno Valley, Calif., and Joyce L. Irving of West Covina, Calif.; two stepsons, Bobby Knox and wife Mary of McMinnville and Tony Knox of Murfreesboro; two stepdaughters, Bernice Young and Lynn Floyd, both of Murfreesboro; and a host of nieces and nephews.A graveside service and interment will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Gardens of Memory with Wayne Rogers officiating. Military honors will be administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
