Cookeville resident and White County native Erbie Clarence Gentry, 76, was born Dec. 4, 1939 and died Nov. 23 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital following an extended illness.A retired truck driver and member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Clarence and Veda Henry Gentry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Carl Gentry; and sister Ruby Usery.He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Chris Farley of Morrison; two grandchildren, Lindsey Madewell and Christopher Tyler Farley, both of Morrison; two great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Joyce Gentry, Bob and Reba Gentry, Eugene and Pat Gentry, and Donnie Gentry, all of Sparta; sister Louise Henry of Sparta; and several nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4 at Vervilla Community Center with Chris Sparkman to officiate.High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
