Emil Fay Melton, 93, a Murfreesboro resident and Warren County native, was born Sept. 30, 1924 and died Dec. 7 at her residence following a brief illness. She was a retired supervisor with DHS, member of First United Methodist Church of Murfreesboro and daughter of the late Howell Madison and Althea Fay Hughes Carney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Berlie Melton; and brother Thomas Butler Carney Sr. Mrs. Melton is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Margaret and Gary Eaton and Fay Church all of Murfreesboro; two grandchildren, Kim Jones of Medina and Alison Rigney of LaVergne; three great-grandchildren; and four stepchildren, David Melton, Bob Melton and Linda Harrell, all of Florida, and Jean Furr of Metter, Ga. Funeral service was held Saturday, Dec. 9, at High’s Chapel with Michael O’Bannon officiating.
