Cannon County native Elmer J. Freeze, 90, died Feb. 21 at Stones River Hospital.A member of Smith Grove Church of Christ, he was the owner of Freeze Electric, a Cannon County Sheriff’s Deputy, Assistant Police Chief, Captain of Cannon County Rescue Squad and Mooretown Fire Department. He also worked at Woodbury Funeral Home as a police escort helping people across the street.Survivors include three sons, W.J. Freeze of Murfreesboro, Kirby and Louise Freeze of McMinnville, and Roy and Tammy Freeze of Woodbury; grandchildren, Johnny Freeze, Jody Lane, Melody Hyder, Kimberly Cantrell, Chris, Michael and Wendy Freeze, Amanda and Joshua Curtis; great-grandchildren, Kristlynn and Hope Lane, Arrie Elizabeth, Will and Katherine Hyder, Lee and Lilly Mae Cantrell, Ashton Freeze, Faith and Alissa Kilgore, Jailynn and Tyler Meeks.Mr. Freeze was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bessie Moore Freeze, and his wife, Annie Mae Rogers Freeze.Funeral service will be held at the chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday with Herb Alsup officiating.
