Rock Island resident and Van Buren County native Elizabeth Louise Hillis, 90, died July 18 at Raintree Manor after an extended illness.A retired employee of Magnetek and a member of First Freewill Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Ernest T. and Nancy Ann Clark Grissom; and was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Hillis; daughter, Glenda Ann Hillis; brothers, Arzie, Clark and Theron Grissom; and sisters, Ernestine Grissom, Mattie Land and Maxine Sweeney.She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Mevolyn Farless of Smithville, Joan and Jim Slatton of McMinnville; son and daughter-in-law, Clark and Jane Hillis of Rock Island; brother and sister-in-law, J.B. and Emmalene Grissom of Muncie, Ind.; grandson, Darrell and Katrina Hillis; granddaughters, Sherry Farless Johnson of Murfreesboro, Jan (Prentice) Foster of Smithville; two great-grandchildren, one step-great-granddaughter, three step-great-grandsons, seven great-great-grandsons, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at High’s Chapel with Richard Bowman and Dennis Deweese officiating. Burial will follow at Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County.
