Rock Island resident and Warren County native Ela Ray Rogers, 83, was born July 22, 1936 and died Oct. 26 at her residence following an extended illness.
A retired teacher’s assistant with Warren County School System for 30 years and member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Radford J. and Ollie Mai Curtis Walker. She was married March 20, 1954 to Arlis Ray Rogers, who preceded her in death Oct. 27, 2010. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sister Treva Walker Barnes and grandson Griffin Parker Rogers.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by two daughters, Pamela (Michael) Vaughn and Vickie (Rusty) Dodd, both of McMinnville, son Keith (Theresia) Rogers of Rock Island, grandchildren Amanda (Philip) Bonham of San Diego, Calif., Sarah (Rob) Martin of Mt. Juliet, Derrin Rogers of Rock Island, Katie (Brent) McCloud of Nashville, and Lucas Rogers of Rock Island, two great-grandchildren, Alice Martin and Michael Bonham and many special cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at High’s Chapel with Rev. Jimmie Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. till time of service Wednesday at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
