Mr. Edzel Arnett Jacobs, 95, of McMinnville died Saturday, Aug. 11, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro.

He was born May 21, 1923, in McMinnville, was a retired employee of Genesco Shoe, a farmer, and a member of Bratcher’s Crossroad Free Methodist Church. A loving husband, father, and Pa-Pa, Edzel was dedicated to his family and faith.

Mr. Jacobs was preceded in death by parents Thomas Vernon and Hattie Foutch Jacobs, wife of 72 years Berdie Dean Jacobs, son Terry Jacobs, sister Oleta Carden, brothers Corwin, Junior, and Nevis Jacobs, grandchild Angela Tinsley, and great-grandchild Raegan Simons.

Survivors include his children Faye (Andy) Tinsley, Wayne (Joy) Jacobs, Robbie (Wendell) Van Valin, and Bobby (Pam) Jacobs, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, brother Leo (Melba) Jacobs and sisters-in-law Imogene Jacobs, Peggy Jacobs, Joyce (Lyon) Walkup, Wilma Wesson, Beulah Smith, Naomi Smith, and Charlene Smith. Several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Andrea Tinsley and Rev. Reed Wilbanks will officiate. Interment will follow at Centertown Cemetery. The Jacobs family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday and again from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
