McMinnville resident and Martin native Edith Mae Elliott Davies, 102, was born June 27, 1909 and died March 10 at Hospice of Chattanooga.The former owner of The Flower Basket and a member of First United Methodist Church where she was a very active member of the Ladies Fellowship Class, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Pearl Blakemore Elliott.She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Past Worthy Grand Matron and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Davies volunteered with Magness Library, Genealogy Society and was the first census taker in Warren County.She was married to John Morris Davies, who preceded her in death Sept. 12, 1987.She is survived by one daughter, Becky Grissom of Chattanooga; granddaughter, Cindy Lamsey and husband Steve of Chattanooga; two great-granddaughters, Megan and Katie; and nieces and nephews, Sue and Jack Martin of Jackson, Peggy Burris of Taylor Mill, Ky., and Steve and Sherry Hillis of Knoxville.A graveside service and interment will be held at 2 p.m. today at Riverside Cemetery with Bob Case officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. today at High’s.High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Southern Standard (McMinnville, Tenn.) March 14, 2012
