Edgar Royce Evans, 75

Edgar Royce Evans, 75, of the Temperance Hall community, passed away Saturday, Sept. 5, at his residence. 

He was born Jan. 3, 1945 to his parents the late H.H. “Buster” and Alta Mae Caplinger Evans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Martha Caroline Evans, and brother Hayden (MA Boyce) Evans. Mr. Evans enjoyed traveling and working the family farm. He was a farmer and retired from Bonnell after 36 years and member of New Middleton United Methodist Church. 

Mr. Evans is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joe Ann Frazier Evans of Temperance Hall, son Gordon (Jen) Evans of Temperance Hall, daughter Rachel (Greg) Ellis of Smithville, five grandkids, James and Kevin Evans of Temperance Hall, Logan, Katie, and Landon Ellis, all of Smithville; step-grandson, Dakota Castle; step-granddaughter, Amanda Pickett, one niece and two nephews and several great nieces and nephews also survive.  

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Royce Martin officiating and burial to follow at Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Due to COVID-19, the Governors Executive Orders 38 and 51 and social distancing guidelines are in place. Pews in the Chapel are marked off to respect the guidelines and allow approximately 100-125 people for the service. We ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise social distancing. The funeral home lounge is closed and NO food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home at this time. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
