McMinnville resident and Grundy County native Earman James Coppinger, 71, was born Nov. 22, 1940 and died Sept. 9 at his residence following a very brief illness.A nurseryman, United States Army veteran and member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Jesse William and Mable Savage Coppinger.He was married Jan. 6, 1967 to Jennie Scruggs Coppinger of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Crystal Coppinger of McMinnville; three grandchildren, Jennie Coppinger, Andrew Coppinger and Emma Coppinger; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Tommy Bess of McMinnville, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today in High’s Chapel with Billy Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Armstrong Cemetery.
