Dr. Robert L. Barksdale Jr., 93, a McMinnville resident and Leesburg, Fla., native, was born March 9, 1925 and passed away Jan. 7 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital following a brief illness.

He was preceded in death by parents Robert and Willie Crain Barksdale Sr., and leaves behind numerous dear friends to celebrate many fond memories of a life well lived. He was an avid tennis player who won many championship trophies, a pilot for the United States Army Air Corps in World War II and dentist for over 40 years in Jacksonville, Fla.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Riverside Cemetery with Willard Ralph Jr. to officiate. Military grave rites will be conducted by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at High’s.
