Dorothy Sue “Dot” Wanamaker, 76, of McMinnville went to be with her Savior on Wednesday, May 19, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Wanamaker was born Sept. 6, 1944 in Walling, and was the secretary and founding partner of Wanamaker Nursery. She was a member of Faith Trinity Assemblies church and during her life as a pastor’s wife, she was a spiritual mother to many. She was preceded in death by her parents Casto and Mary Gladys Delong Carter of Walling, brothers Leroy, Billy, J.C. and Harold Carter, and sisters Geneva McPeak and Barbara Adcock.
Dorothy is survived by her husband William F. Wanamaker, two sons Timothy Wanamaker and wife Deborah and Steve Wanamaker, grandchildren and spouses Brandon (Courtney) Wanamaker, Andrea Wanamaker, and Ashley (Jared) Wanamaker Lusk, great-grandchildren Cash, True, and Ava Lusk, all of the Irving College area, and sister Marie (Lloyd) Redmon of Walling, TN, God sons Daniel (Becky) Lawson and Donnie (Marva) Lawson, and special loved ones Norma Wanamaker and Bea Wanamaker.
Funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, May 21, at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Anthony Wanamaker and Jason Brown will officiate. Interment will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery II in Grundy County. The Wanamaker family will receive friends Friday from noon until the time of service on Friday at McMinnville Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Trinity Assemblies, 12695 Beersheba Hwy, McMinnville, TN 37110 in her memory for Justin Martin, son of Denton and Tracy Martin.
