Donald Clay Hill Sr., 91, of Rock Island (Eastside community) died Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Raintree Manor Nursing Center in McMinnville. He was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Sparta and was a retired tax consultant and dairy farmer, a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, and a member of the Church of Christ at Jericho. Mr. Hill was preceded in death by parents Fred Clay and Hattie Mae Stewart Hill, his wife Mary Lucille Price Hill, sister Zula Mae Hill, daughter-in-law Betty Hill, and brothers Fred Leslie Hill, Roby Cordell Hill, James Douglas Hill, John Calvin Hill, Tony Edward Hill, and Jimmy LeRoy Hill.Survivors include his children Donnie Hill, Ann and Bill Smith, all of McMinnville, David and Ann Hill of Rock Island, Susie and Shane Hoover of Greeneville, and Beverly and Joe Capps of Manchester; brothers, Billy Joe Hill and David O’brien Hill, both of Michigan; grandchildren, Billy (Stacy) Smith, Clay (Christie) Hill, Curtis Hill, Betsy (Chris) McBride, Heather (Lee) McKennon, Gina (J.W.) Holt, Amy (Steve) Clevenger, Adam Hoover, Amberly (Lance) Champion, Ashley (James) Hobbs, Caitlyn (Patrick) Smith, great-grandchildren Tristan Smith, Kaleb Smith, Spencer Hill, Annaston McBride, Rance McBride, Jacob Holt, Paige Champion, Mason Clay Champion, Isaac Clevenger, and Kensingtyn Hill, numerous nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Norma Gail Pedigo of Sparta; and special caregiver Wanda Reed of McMinnville.Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel.
