Rock Island resident and Van Buren County native Diemer Smartt Bishop, 75, was born Oct. 6, 1940 and died Oct. 16 at Saint Thomas River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A retired mechanic and a member of the Church of Christ at East End, he was the son of the late Willie Richard and Martha Lou Prater Bishop. He was married to Linda Peterson Bishop, who preceded him in death.
