Christiana resident and Warren County native Danny “Big Daddy” Whiteaker, 73, was born Jan. 22, 1948 and died March 19 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro following an extended illness.

A retired manager with K-Mart and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Leonard and Alice Louise Hillis Whiteaker. He was married to Judie Darlene Nason, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Whiteaker is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Kristy and John Phelan of Christiana, son and daughter-in-law Jason and Amanda Whiteaker of Smyrna, brother, Ricky Whiteaker of McMinnville, grandchildren Jordan (Rick) Bater, Tabetha (Clay) Sweeney, and Makala Phelan, all of Christiana, Shania Whiteaker, Danielle Whiteaker, Emma Whiteaker, Cameron Daye, and Haven Moore, all of Smyrna, and Hannah Daye of Manchester, and great-grandchildren, Noah Bater, Ellis Bater, Mason Sweeney, Adleigh Wallace, Kisen Davis, River Jones, and Paislee Jones.

Funeral service will be held in High’s Chapel Tuesday, March 23, at 2 p.m. with Kelly Marlowe officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of service at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
