Mr. Clarence “C. J.” Hawkins, Junior 83, of McMinnville, died Friday, March 24, 2023 at Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was born May 12, 1939, in McMinnville, was a retired forklift operator with Magnetek/Century Electric, and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed playing music and was a member of the Volunteer Bluegrass Band, liked fishing, enjoyed wood working, and loved spoiling his grandkids. Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Merle and Emma Brown Dodd Hawkins; and sisters, Mamie Pedigo and Lucille Turner.
Survivors include his children, Barry Hawkins, Bryan Hawkins, Brad (Ann) Hawkins, Shawn Hawkins and Tonya (Richard) Moore; step children, Shane Hillis, Michael Hillis and Katrina (Brandon) Boyd; sisters, Olivia Boyd, Dorothy Burch, June (Bobby) Moore and Ruby Williamson; grandchildren, Keisha Beard, Adam Hawkins, Ryan Hawkins, Lily Hawkins, Blake Moore and Autumn Moore; step grandchildren, Jeremiah Hillis, Makenzi Boyd and Anaya Boyd; and great grandchildren, Kase Hawkins, Kylie Davis and Kyra Agee. Many nieces, nephews, and family friends also survive.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bobby Moore will officiate. Interment will follow at Charles Creek Cemetery. The Hawkins family will receive friends on Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m.
