Charles N. “Shot” Nunley, 83, a McMinnville resident and Warren County native, was born July 26, 1937 and passed Sept. 7 at his residence following a brief illness.

He was a graduate of Central High School, graduated UT-Knoxville where he received a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering, and graduated MTSU with a master’s degree in education. He was a retired Director of the Tennessee Vocational Technical School, a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1945, and the son of the late J.L. and Fannie Belle Newman Nunley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Joe E. Nunley and J.L. Nunley, Jr.

Mr. Nunley was married June 26, 1960 to Patricia Strick Nunley. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Susan (David) Marttala of McMinnville, son Charles N. (Allison) Nunley Jr. of Murfreesboro, and five grandchildren Shelby, Will, and Lilly Marttala, and Erin and Morgan Nunley.

A graveside service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 9, at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Rev. Jimmie Lancaster and Rev. John Todd officiating. Family and friends are to meet at the cemetery. Wearing a facemask and social distancing is requested by the family. Honorary pall bearers will be McMinnville Rotary Club.
