Charles Lamont Stanley, 86

McMinnville resident and Van Buren County native Charles Lamont Stanley, 86, was born Nov. 24, 1933 and died Feb. 25 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville following an extended illness.

A retired produce salesman, a member of the Tennessee Army National Guard, and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Levi Woodlee and Ethel Grissom Stanley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by granddaughter Racheal Diamond and brother Alsey Stanley.

He was married Nov. 24, 1979 to Melba Rains Stanley of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Vickie Sanders and Shirley Sanders, both of Oakfield, TN, Charlene Cowden and husband Bill of Humboldt, Virginia Fincher of Calvert City, Ky., and Amanda Stanley and fiancé Coty Phillips of Cookeville, four grandsons and three great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at High’s Chapel. Burial will follow at Hebron Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at High’s.
