Rock Island resident and Hazel Green, Ala., native Charles Harvie McCormick, 83, was born Jan. 16, 1930 and died Dec. 10 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness.A retired supervisor with McMinnville Manufacturing and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Elidge Washington and Cora Slaughter McCormick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lester, Aubrey and Floyd McCormick; and four sisters, Evelyn Pennington, Willene Herriman, Pauline McDowell and Mildred Crouch.He was married to Helen Malone McCormick of Rock Island. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Tim Price of McMinnville, Kathy and Robert Shields of McMinnville, and Regina and Glenn Honeycutt of Rock Island; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles David and Becky McCormick of McMinnville; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brother, Ben McCormick of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews.A graveside service and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Grange Hall Cemetery with Bob Crittenden officiating.
