McMinnville resident and Sequatchie County native Cecil Etherege Minton, 77, died Jan. 3 at River Park Hospital after a brief illness.A tool and die maker and plant manager at A.O. Smith and a member of Brethren in Christ Church, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.The son of the late Waymon H. and Wilma Earlene McCarver Minton, he was preceded in death by brother, Clayborn Minton.He is survived by his wife, Molie Powers Minton; son and daughter-in-law, Rickey and Greta Porter Minton of McMinnville; grandchildren, Zachary Minton and wife Kati, Wesley Minton and fiancé Victoria Woods; great-grandson, Easton Lake Minton; brother, Howard Minton of Dunlap; sisters, Betty Stoker of Dunlap and Lois Grammer of Shelbyville; several nieces and nephews.Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at High’s Chapel with Ernie Webber and Tony Smedley officiating. Burial will follow at White Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. till time of service Sunday at High’s.
