Calvin Clyde Herrin, 75, a Vervilla community resident and DeKalb County native, died Sept. 8 at his residence following an extended illness.He was a retired machinist with Powermatic, member of the Church of Christ, and son of the late Warren and Martha Belle Steele Herrin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son Teddy Collins; grandchildren Kaimen Collins and Ashley Frame; brothers Frank, Ned, Charlie, Howard, James and Robert Herrin; and sister Frances Cantrell.Mr. Herrin was married June 16, 1977 to Mildred Furline Herrin, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by eight children and spouses, Calvin and Annette Herrin Jr., Douglas and Brandy Herrin, and Ricky and Donna Collins, all of Vervilla, Keith and Deanna Herrin of Sparta, Lori and Mark Frame of Winchester, Cindy Thaxton of Spencer, Susie and Bill Wilson, and Glenn and Michelle Collins, all of Murfreesboro; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Josephine Herrin of Vervilla, Ben and Pearl Herrin of Morrison, and Don and Jo Herrin of McMinnville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Clara Nell and Teddy Slatton of McMinnville, Linda and Wade Farley of Morrison, and Armanda and Carly Burgess of Vervilla; and several nieces and nephews.
