Bruce Aaron Lewis, 79, of Smithville passed from this life on Friday, Aug. 12, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Bruce was born Thursday, March 4, 1943, in Jacksonville, Florida, the son of the late Dero Lewis and the late Verda (Manier) Lewis.

Bruce was a loving son, brother, husband, father, Pa, uncle, and friend. He was known as the “mule man.” He loved to judge mule shows and participate in wagon rides. He was a farmer for most of his life, where he had livestock. Bruce was loved by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sandra (Sharpe) Lewis, two children Sheri Womack and her husband, Cole, and Amy Forst and her husband Jarrett, two stepchildren Rhonda Ware, and Angela Henry and her husband Kevin, three grandchildren Grant Womack, Gavin Womack, and Claire Forst, six step-grandchildren Bret Ware, Ben Ware, Collin Sweeton, Keeley Sweeton, Kyler Sweeton, and Ava Wilson, two great-step-grandchildren, Brantley Sweeton, and Hunter Sweeton, two brothers Wayne Lewis and his wife Peggy, and Billy Lewis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside service for Bruce Aaron Lewis will be held Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 2 p.m. at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Interment will follow.

Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. To sign the online guestbook, visit
