McMinnville resident and Warren County native Brenda Joy Knowles, 65, was born Aug. 5, 1947 and died Oct. 23 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness.A homemaker and a member of Bethel Hill Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Cleveland and Alva Irene Myers McCormick. She was married to James Calvin Knowles, who preceded her in death Sept. 2, 2007. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ramon Cartwright.She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Dena and Tom Tanner of McMinnville; one son, Jerry Beaty of McMinnville; three grandchildren, Miranda Barkve and husband James, Drew Tanner and Kaitom Tanner, all of McMinnville; two great-grandchildren, J.J. Smith and Taylor Barkve; one sister, Georgia Wood of Aurora, Colo.; and one brother, Joe Lynn McCormick of Rock Island.Funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. in High’s Chapel with Jerry Smith officiating.
