Billy H. Hayes, 81, of McMinnville died Tuesday, June 2 at his residence.
He was born July 10, 1933 in Campaign and was a veteran serving his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War, and was retired from Middle Tennessee Medical Center as a registered nurse. He was a member of Bethel Hill Baptist Church, an avid bowler and a member and president of the Gold and Silver Bowling League.
He was preceded in death by parents, William and Delma Edween Clark Hayes, and sister, Betty Sue Hayes Kell.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Griffith Hayes; children, Debra Ann Hayes (Garry) Rhea and Laura Hayes (Mark) Smith; sisters, Brenda Kay Hayes Mason and Belinda Hayes Rambo, and grandchildren Rachel Rhea (Jake) Debuty, Jana Rhea, Nathan Smith, and Emily Smith (Dave) Denham. Many other family members and friends also survive.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. John Padgett, Tommy Lusk and Phillip Summerford will officiate. Interment will follow at Centertown Cemetery. Military grave rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 173 and the VFW Post 5064. The Hayes family will receive friends from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and again from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
