McMinnville resident and Athens, Ohio native Betty Marie Patton, 89, was born April 20, 1928 and died June 13 at the Webb House Retirement Center in McMinnville following an extended illness.
Retired from Century Electric and of the Christian faith, she was the daughter of the late John Elsworth and Bessie Crum Adams. She was married to first husband, Ralph Dean Pierce, Sr. who preceded her in death on July 7, 2003 and second husband, Harold Horton Patton who preceded her in death on March 13, 1998. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by seven siblings, Gerald Adams, John Adams, Donald Adams, Jim Adams, Bob Adams, Erma Crick and Evie Pearson.
She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Bob Patton of McMinnville and Ralph and Darlene Pierce of McMinnville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Rick McCarver of Morrison and Linda and John Brady of McMinnville; five grandsons and spouses, Mike and Heather Adams of Charlotte, N.C., Josh McCarver of McMinnville, Shawn and Nicki McCarver of Woodbury, Adam and Linda Patton of McMinnville, and Brandon and Amber Brady of Cookeville; three granddaughters, Christy Mize and husband Scotty of McMinnville, Chrystal Patton of McMinnville, and Amber Brady and fiancé Shane of Alexandria; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Adams of Cumming, Ga., and Bettye Sue Patton of McMinnville; and eleven great-grandchildren, Austin, Addye, Maddy, Mikayla, Will, Randal, Aly, David, Caleb, Allie and Chase.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at High’s Chapel with Bro. Phillip Rowland officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 8 p.m., and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at High’s. Online condolences may be made at
