Bettie Bragg Lemley, 96, of Tallahassee, Fla., died Friday, June 29, in Tallahassee.
A native of McMinnville, she had lived in Tallahassee since 1950. She was a member of Timberlane Church of Christ.
She moved to Miami in 1938 to work and to live with her half-brother Edward Foster and his family. After moving to Tallahassee she was employed for two years as a secretary by Florida State University and for 18 years by the Florida Department of Labor, Employment Security Division. She was also proud to be a homemaker and caregiver.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Harold E. Lemley; parents, Ruby Wilson Bragg and Thomas Perkins Bragg; sisters, Mary Perkins Bragg Hillis and Georgia Bragg Cordell; brother, Woodrow Wilson Bragg and several half-sisters and brothers who include Hassie Bragg, Carrie Bragg, Edward Foster, David Foster, John Roy Bragg, Dixie Bragg and Walter Bragg. She is survived by a son, Douglas Alan Lemley, and several nieces and nephews.
Abbey Funeral Home in Tallahassee is in charge of arrangements. The graveside service was held Tuesday at Tallahassee Memory Gardens.
