Mr. Barry Russell Delong Sr., 62, of Spencer passed away Saturday, July 2 at his home surrounded by his family.
Barry was a Van Buren County native born on Dec. 30, 1959 to the late Wilburn Delong Sr. and Paulene Bishop Delong. Barry worked at A.O. Smith for over 30 years as a painter, was a 1977 graduate of Van Buren County High School and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Wilburn (Phyllis) Delong Jr., and brother-in-law Willie Pierce.
Barry is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Reba Simmons Delong, sons Barry Russell Delong Jr., Christopher (Nola) Green, Austin Tyler (Caitilyn) Delong, daughters Jennifer Nicole Delong, Kendra (Adam) Laferniere, Cassandra (Mike Johnson) Green, Ashley Delong, brothers Ricky Delong, Randall Paul Delong, sisters Nelda Pierce, Karla Lee, grandchildren Dakota, Mathew, Devin, Morgan, Dustin, Zachary, Isabella, Nova, Alli Rose, J.C., and Noah, in-laws John and Wanda Simmons, mothers of his children Judy Carol Patrick and Melissa Seibers. Many nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.
Special thanks to Avalon Hospice for all their loving care. Funeral services will be held Sunday July 3, at 3 p.m. at the Layne Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wayne Sullivan officiating.
