Arminta Carter Woods, 87, of McMinnville died Thursday, Jan. 7, at St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville.


She was born Sept. 7, 1933, in Smithville, was a member of Covenant Fellowship Church, and retired at the age of 81 as a bookkeeper for the city of McMinnville with over 38 years of service. She was crowned Mrs. Senior Warren County and Mrs. Senior Upper Cumberland in 1995 and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to dress classy, enjoyed camping, reading, sewing, and playing games on her iPad. Arminta also served on the boards of the Warren County Senior Center and for Meals on Wheels. Ms. Woods was preceded in death by her parents Lemmuel Harvey and Addie Elzo Parsley Carter, former husband Robert Allen Woods, and son-inlaw Bobby Farless.


Arminta is survived by her children Starr Farless, Dale (Denise) Woods, Melody Woods, and Tommy Woods, grandchildren Jimmy (Alicia) Farless, Kim (Daniel) Snyder, T.R. Woods (Simone O’Dell), Amelia (Lowell) Miller, and Ellen (Mat) Pilcher, and great-grandchildren Amos Snyder, Carter Snyder, Isaiah Snyder, Laura Mae Snyder, James Cody Farless, and baby Pilcher on the way.


A graveside service and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Dale Woods will officiate. Friends will meet at the cemetery and there will be no public visitation at the funeral home. Social distancing is to be adhered to and the wearing of masks is REQUIRED.
