Arlene Madewell, 77, of Mission Viejo, Calif., died peacefully Aug 12.
She was born Feb. 16, 1934 in Chattanooga to parents Agger and Margie Hillis.
She and her brother Ronnie were raised with a true Southern upbringing and Arlene was a real Southern Belle. She was a graduate of Central High School in Chattanooga and married her high school sweetheart, Jim Madewell.
She was the rock of the family raising four children all the while supporting her husband in his career in aerospace and holding down the home front. They moved all around the country countless times in their lives and she “set up house in a new city” more times than she can count. Arlene was very resilient in these situations, exuding the grace and beauty that was within her and made up her being.
She always had a smile for everyone whose path she crossed. She left a loving impression with everyone she came across.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Jim Madewell, with his recent passing. They were truly meant to be together in life and in death. She is survived by her four children, Darlene, Sharon, Mike and Neil. She also loved and enjoyed her nine grandchildren Ashley, Jason, Jeremey, Austin, Holly, Rachel, Paris, Mackenzie and Sierra.
She was laid to rest next to her husband overlooking the Pacific Ocean on Wednesday, Aug. 17 at Pacific View Memorial Cemetery in Corona Del Mar, Calif.
