Alma Lee Holder, 85, of McMinnville (Centertown community) died Sunday, Jan. 12, at her residence.
She was born July 5, 1928 in Warren County and was employed many years at Formfit Rogers, worked at McMinnville Cheese Plant, was a former cook at Centertown Elementary School and Warren County Middle School, and was a member of the Congregational Methodist Church. Mrs. Holder was preceded in death by her parents, James and Leona Burgess Hale; first husband Corwin C. Jacobs; son, Charles Edwin Holder; and siblings, Mary Francis Hale, James Hale Jr., Eugene Hale, Dorothy Johnson, Edith Thompson, Lorella Hale Knaser, Charles “Tom” Hale, Silvia Harreland Hale and Thomas Melton Hale.
Survivors include her husband, John D. Holder of Centertown; sons, James Thomas Jacobs, Willie (Barbara) Jacobs, and Jack (Esther) Holder, brother Robert Hale of Painesville, Ohio; sister, Shirley McQueary of California, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Alma Lee enjoyed going to church, singing gospel songs and playing the piano. A devoted Christian and Bible scholar, she also enjoyed teaching children in church and church-related activities. Over the years, she carried many children from the community to church.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. David Bratcher and Robert Wright will officiate. Interment will follow at Centertown Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
