Take a swing at being Tarzan

The Arts Center of Cannon County is holding auditions for “Tarzan the Musical” on Nov. 17 -18 at 6:30 p.m. at the center. Production dates for the show will be March 20 through April 4, with rehearsals beginning in January.
Several spots are available, but all interested in auditioning for Tarzan should e-mail show director Darryl Deason at darryltdeason@gmail.com to schedule an appointment time and to receive an audition preparation packet.
A breakdown of characters follow:
Clayton - A brutish, greedy hunter and guide. Leads Jane and Porter’s expedition. Male 30-45 years old
Ensemble - Apes - Expedition Crew; Ages 8 and up with a strong dance background
Jane - An adventurous young English botanist. She falls in love with Tarzan. Female 16-30 years old. Range: F#3-F5
Kala - A gentle mother ape. Kerchak’s mate and Tarzan’s protector. Female, 30-45 years old.  Range: E3-Eb5
Kerchak - The gruff leader of the gorillas and Kala’s mate. Male 40-50 years old. Range: Ab2-Gb4
Leopard - A fierce carnivore that threatens both gorillas and humans. Male or Female 25-35 years old. Strong featured dance role.
Porter - A bumbling English professor of Biology. Jane’s Father. Male 50-60 years old. Range: B2-C4
Tarzan - A vulnerable, fearless young man raised by apes. Terk’s best friend who falls in love with Jane. Male 16-30 years old. Range B2-Bb4.  Email Darryltdeason@gmail.com if interested in this role
Terk - A sarcastic ape and Tarzan’s best friend. Male 16-30 years old. Range Eb3-B4
Young Tarzan - An innocent young boy who loses his parents and is raised by the apes. A male who must be able to play 8-12 years old. Range C3-E4
Young Terk - A sarcastic adolescent ape. Tarzan’s best friend. Male. Must be able to play 8-12 years old. Range G3-B4
Also casting percussionists experienced in playing hand drums such as djembe, bongos, congas, etc. who are also interested in performing on stage as dancers and singers as well. Bring instruments to audition if interested.
Seeking dancers that are skilled, and possess a wide range of physical ability. Acrobatic skills are a plus. Combinations will be taught by the choreographer, and auditions will be done in small groups.
Dancers will be required to do a singing audition as well. Please come prepared. 
Everyone auditioning will participate in the dance audition, and should come prepared with proper footwear and clothing to audition.
Singers should prepare a musical selection of roughly 16 measures showcasing vocal ability and sing a song in the style of the show.
