Warren County children eligible to attend pre-kindergarten are encouraged to attend registration and screening on April 14 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; and April 15 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Bobby Ray Memorial gymnasium.
Children who will be 4 years old by Aug. 15 may apply. Parents are encouraged to contact the school you plan to attend for an appointment. Items needed for registration include, the child, proof of address, proof of income, preferably income tax form from 2014. If the child, family or any member of the household qualifies for food stamps, Headstart, foster care, homeless, migrant, Families First or receives food stamps, proof needs to be supplied.

Basic Pre-K Information
Each of the eight elementary schools contain a voluntary pre-school program that is taught by a highly qualified teacher and certified assistant. The maximum enrollment is 20 students per classroom. Priority is given to students based on income qualifications, however if additional spaces are available other children will be allowed.
Pre-K school day starts at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 1:15 p.m., with parents signing students in and out each day.
Teachers work diligently to provide children with educational experiences that will provide a successful transition to kindergarten.
The activities of the early childhood program are designed with child development in mind and are based on current research of how young children best learn.
Daily lesson plans are designed around preschool curriculum guidelines, which facilitate play-based learning in the following areas: thinking, communication, sense of self and others, social living and learning, health and physical understanding, cultural understanding, understanding environments and pre-literacy and pre-numeracy.
Kindergarten registration for students 5 years old by Aug. 15 will be held April 16 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; and April 17 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Bobby Ray Memorial. More details to follow.
