Magness Library's Summer Reading program draws over 140 children

An estimated 140 youngsters enjoyed the pleasures of reading throughout the summer thanks to Magness Library’s Summer Reading program, On Your Mark, Get Set … Read.According to library assistant director Michelle Chisam the program started May 23 with registration and ended mid-July. A fun awards day was held Thursday, with all readers recognized, and others receiving gifts when their names were drawn from the hat. One-year subscriptions to National Geographic Kids magazine and books donated by the school system were presented.
