Twenty-five young girls had the time of their lives recently, as they were part of a Little Princess Tea Party presented at the Park Theater.
According to theater manager Kevin Roberts, the free event was a fun way to use the theater, focusing on the younger set.
“We just wanted to do something for the community and for little girls,” said Roberts. “We thought this would be a good way to let them know how precious they are.”
Many of the little girls wore their Sunday best, complete with jewelry, hats and gloves. Some even donned miniature princess costumes, complete with tiaras.
The guests were accompanied by a guest, either a parent or adult, and started off the morning with a craft session. Each table was covered in colorful table coverings, with each holding a miniature tea cup filled with fresh flowers. The flowers and complimentary daisy headbands for each child were provided by McMinnville Flower Shop.
"That was another nice thing about the activity," said Roberts. "The community was very involved in making this happen. The flower shop did the flowers, the cookies were made by Park Café and Desserts, and Paula's Dance Academy shared props and three live princesses in costume."
Snow White, played by Savannah Saylors; Sleeping Beauty played by Lillie Hutchins; and Belle played by Ella Hutchins visited each table, talking with the girls and posing for photos.
Following their tea party, they all gathered on the historic stage around Snow White for a fun storytime.
The little princesses for the day left the theater wearing their daisy headbands, each carrying a special memory of her Princess Tea Party at the Park Theater.
The Park Theater is managed and run by the City of McMinnville under the McMinnville Parks and Recreation Department, with their office located on the second floor above the theater at 115 West Main Street. The staff can be reached by calling 931-506-2787.
