Jean-Michel Cousteau's Secret Ocean 3D opens at IMAX
Diving legends Jean-Michel Cousteau and Dr. Sylvia Earle reveal to the world the colorful sea creatures thriving in the oceans in the "Jean-Michel Cousteau's Secret Ocean 3D" presentation. This interaction with a hammerhead shark is just one of the examples. The movie opens at the Tennessee Aquarium IMAX 3D Theater Sept. 30.
Some of the world’s most vibrant living communities are hidden from public view in the ocean depths. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NOAA, coral reefs support more than 4,000 species of fish and 800 known coral species. Recently, vast areas of these underwater treasures were protected with the creation of the new Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument surrounding the Hawaiian Islands in the Pacific Ocean and the designation of the Northeast Canyons and Seamounts Marine National Monument, the first in the Atlantic Ocean.Much of the credit for protection of these unique marine ecosystems can be traced to the efforts of ocean advocates Jean-Michel Cousteau and Dr. Sylvia Earle.
