It pays to be good at Bobby Ray

Rewarding good behavior is proving successful at Bobby Ray Elementary.

Throughout the year, students earn tickets rewarding good behavior. Every nine weeks, the Bobby Ray staff organizes a Rewards Day event where students and staff celebrate those good behaviors with a day packed with games, food, movies, and fun.

ESL teachers Kristin Grayson and Tracy Walkup, along with other members of the Bobby Ray faculty, organized the December event, which was held Wednesday. Students had the opportunity to enjoy inflatable bouncy houses which included a football toss, slide, and a Velcro throwing game. Ring toss, bouncing hoppers, snowman crafts, movies and popcorn rounded out the day.

“I love this system. It gives them something to work for,” said Grayson. “They get stars for good behavior and then get to spend them at Rewards Day and the Star Store.  We are very thankful to our parents for supporting Pizza Day which funds these efforts, and each year it just gets better and better.”

“The children really look forward to this day,” said Walkup. “We are able to purchase these items for the Star Store and fund Rewards Day with the profit earned from our pizza day. Parents are great with it because they know where every dime is going.”
