Bonner FCEC met on April 3 at 11 a.m. in the 4-H room. President Teresa Priestley called the meeting to order by welcoming seven members. Brenda Mitchell read from the book “God’s Little Devotional Book” for our devotional, and closed with a prayer.

Our roll call was answered by each member naming a tree in their yard. Minutes from the March meeting were read by Donna Dunlap, with Linda Nixon giving the financial report. 

We discussed preparing spring baskets for the residence of Fannie B’s. Members volunteered items to bring to prepare the baskets. We met recently andprepared the baskets and later delivered them to the residents. 

We discussed writing cards to our troops. Teresa will obtain names for us to write to.

A&R Day was held last month in the Magnolia Room. We wore the color green, donated books for newborns and provided items for the silent auction.

The FCE bake sale, which is to raise money for the FCE scholarship, was held last week at Foodland Plus.  Our club worked from 2 p.m. until all baked goods were sold. 

Lisa Keener told the club about her experience working with volunteers to help the victims in Northern Alabama of the recent tornado. She stated it was a very eye-opening experience. 

We discussed keeping up with our CVU hours (community volunteer hours), and updated our Gold Stars. 

Three members returned their Souper Nutrition Pledge that agent Hilda Lytle gave us last meeting. 

We discussed recycling, what can and cannot be recycled and the proper way to recycle plastic bottles.  Also you should empty the trash bag into the recycle bin instead to throwing these into the bin with the plastics.

Teresa reminded us to bring white towels and white wash cloths for the Fisher House to the June 18 county council meeting. She also reminded us the Day of the Family will be on May 15 and encouraged us to plan activities with our families. 

With all business completed, we closed the meeting with the FCE Creed, with some of the members going to the tea room for food and fellowship.
