Lucky-Northside FCE
On Feb. 23 Lucky-Northside FCEC met for its regular monthly session at 11:30 a.m. in the 4-H room. President Sandra Griffith called the meeting to order.
A prayer was led by Betty Whitlock, especially remembering those of our number who were unable to attend for reasons of health and family circumstances: Paula Barnes, Irene Fuston and Linda Schlimmer.
The pledge of allegiance was recited in unison. Roll call was answered by members and agent Hilda Lytle making a word from the letters in the word butterfly. No financial report was given and no dues were collected. Secretary Whitlock read the January minutes, which were approved as read.
Agent Lytle presented a program on being proactive when it comes to our own health. She gave a quiz to assess our lifestyle, and a handout with some suggestions and steps to take to be a smarter health care consumer.
The group also discussed visitation day on March 14 in the Magnolia room. Each club will decorate their table with cast iron pieces. The speaker’s subject that day will focus on using cast iron in cooking.
The County Council meeting will be on March 20, with the Bonner club serving a lasagna meal for $5 per person. A&R Day will be held on April 6 with plans and activities still pending for that event.
The meeting was adjourned after repeating the club creed in unison.
The next meeting of the Lucky-Northside FCEC will be on March 23 in the 4-H room at the Extension office.
Bonner FCE
Bonner FCE Club held its March meeting at Gondola Restaurant, with eight members enjoying breakfast.
President Faye Hickey called our meeting to order, and chaplain Brenda Blessings read an article “Beat the Clock” for the devotional. Members stood and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call was conducted by members guessing how many species of butterflies exist in the world. There are approximately 17,500 species in the world and approximately 750 in the United States of America. Minutes for the February meeting were read by secretary Donna Dunlap, and the financial report was given by treasurer Linda Nixon.
Vice president Vita Gulley took over the meeting. Educational leader for the Special Project report was given by Dunlap. She gave everyone a sheet showing the calendar events for the council for 2017. She then she discussed events which were of interest to our club. Lucy Eastman showed some note cards she had painted. It was decided we would prepare some note cards for the Fannie B residence at our next visit.
Blessing gave everyone a word search puzzle to do. Gulley, Blessing, Irene Fuston and Teresa Priestley reported they had read some books since our last meeting. It was decided to visit Fannie B’s in April for Easter, with a date to be set later. Hickey reminded everyone of the food to bring for the Visitation Day on March 14. Members volunteered to bring some cast iron items they have to help decorate a table. She also reminded members what they were to bring for the meal for the county council meeting on March 20.
We discussed decorations we might do for the A&R Day on April 5, using the theme of butterflies. Our club is in charge of decorations, name tags and door prizes. Each member will provide three door prizes. We plan to meet at Midway on April 4 to do our decorating.
We provided items for the Hamilton Street Center, and the Child Advocacy center.
Members recited the FCE Creed to close our meeting, and the next meeting will be April 4 at 11 a.m. in the Magnolia Room.
