Much to the delight of pageant enthusiasts, changes and additions are coming to the slate of Warren County A&L Fair pageants. It’s a well-known fact the Fairest of the Fair Pageant is one of the most well attended events during fair week, with many making it an annual outing.

Two new pageants are joining the ranks this September, filling the age gap for competitions. Tiny Fairest of the Fair will be held Sept. 7 at 5 p.m. It will feature girls ages 4-6. Applications are available online at the Warren County A&L Fair Facebook page, at Kathy’s of McMinnville, Upton’s Bridal and Formal Boutique and Southern Standard. Fair board member Susan Burks is chairing both the Tiny Fairest and Fairest of the Fair pageants.

Another addition is the Teen Fairest of the Fair for girls 13-15 years of age, with Deitra Dunlap serving as pageant chair. The inaugural teen event will take place Saturday, Sept. 8 at 5 p.m. Applications will be available at Kathy’s of McMinnville, Upton’s Bridal and Formal Boutique and Southern Standard.

“The community has wanted pageants for every age group for a while now,” said Burks. “With our fair winning our division this past January, we are now in competition for the coveted Champion of Champions, and feel the changes made to our pageant program willhopefully help us capture this award.”

Two age groups have been added to the American Association of University Women’s Baby Show, which is held on Wednesday, Sept. 12 starting at 3:30 p.m. Categories start at 6 months and go through 48 months. AAUW representative Joyce Britton feels the addition of a 36-42 month category and a 42-48 month category for both boys and girls is a positive move for the organization. Last year’s Sweepstake winners are Kinslee Rae-Nani Rutledge and Boston Leslie Guy.

Baby Show applications are available at JC Penney, Southern Standard, Ashley’s Attic, Kathy’s of McMinnville and the Warren County Extension office.

Staple events not making any alterations include:

Fairest of the Fair applications are available online at the Warren County A&L Fair Facebook page, at Kathy’s of McMinnville, Upton’s Bridal and Formal Boutique, Southern Standard and Warren County High School office. Chrystal Patton is the pageant chair, and applications can be picked up at Kathy’s of McMinnville, Upton’s Bridal and Formal Boutique and the Southern Standard. Bebe Anne Brackley will crown her successor.
