Taylor Dawn ElGouhary burst into tears after being named Miss Warren County 2013 in the annual scholarship pageant sponsored by the Queens for a Cure Foundation which raises money for cancer research. The 5-foot-10 beauty was crowned by Miss Warren County 2012, Lauren Ashley Crothers.
ElGouhary is a 16-year-old junior at Warren County High School, and is the daughter of Chad and April McCormick, and Erik ElGouhary. As winner, she will receive a $1,500 scholarship to help pay for future college expenses.
Others in the court include: Kelsey Taylor Lawrence, daughter of David and Dena Upton, first runner-up and best interview; Caitlin Jade Stoner, daughter of Terry and Tami Stoner, second runner-up and honorable mention Most Photogenic; Sierra Jade Pedigo, daughter of Richard and Alene Pedigo, third runner-up; and Judith Gomez, daughter of Victor and Martha Gomez, fourth runner-up.
A Top 20 list of girls chosen by the judges, in addition to the court included: Jarah Mai Anderson, daughter of Johnny and Donna Anderson; Ariel Maxine Bouldin, daughter of Floyd and Karen Bouldin; Erica JoAnn Cantrell, daughter of Brad and Cyndi Cantrell; Baylee Ashton Fults, daughter of Chuck and Kari Cantrell and David Fults; Kaylee Danielle Herrington, daughter of Sara Ward; Keely Breanna Jacobs, daughter of Jonathan and Kandy Jacobs; Leslie Karen Moulton, daughter of John and Connie Moulton; Carly LeeAnn Newby, daughter of Manie and Rena Newby; Kara Makenzie Page, daughter of Rhonda Cope; Haley Lane Sanders, daughter of Stacy Sanders and Connie Sanders; Courtlyn Autumn Sauer, daughter of Will and Andrea Richards, and Steve Sauer; Madison Michaela Taylor, daughter of Kim Nunley, and Michael Taylor; and Katherine Jane Tubb, daughter of John and Joy Tubb, Hannah Lea Turner, daughter of Chad and Jennifer Turner; and Samantha Brooke Weeter, daughter of Leanne Holt, and Stephen Weeter.
Contestants narrowed to the Top 10 by the judges, in addition to the court included: Jarah Anderson, Baylee Fults, Leslie Moulton, Carly Newby and Madison Taylor.
The Top 10 was given the same onstage question, “What would you do if your phone was taken away for 48 hours?” ElGouhary said, “I would go in my room and dance to any song I love.”
Kara Page was named Little Sister. She will assist the queen in fundraisers held by Queens for a Cure throughout the year. Maxine Bouldin was voted by her fellow contestants as Miss Congeniality.
Carly Newby raised $605 for Queens for a Cure to win the Presidential Award which was presented by Sharon Walker, Relay for Life organizer. Judith Gomez received honorable mention Presidential Award for raising $400, which goes toward finding a cure for cancer. Keely Jacobs received the People’s Choice Award.
Class beauties included: Alexandria Marie Hollandsworth, daughter of Nancy Steakley, freshmen; Courtlyn Sauer, sophomore; Megan LeAnn Anderson, daughter of Stanley Finis Anderson, junior, and Allison Paige Smith, daughter of Thomas and Cindy Smith, senior.
Contestants receiving additional recognition were Samantha Weeter, Most Photogenic; Erica Cantrell, prettiest eyes; Kaylee Herrington, honorable mention prettiest eyes; Baylee Fults, prettiest dress; Katie Tubb, honorable mention prettiest dress; Haley Sanders, prettiest hair; Karlin Cantrell, daughter of Allen and Kim Cantrell, honorable mention prettiest hair; Hannah Turner, prettiest smile; Makenzie Magness, daughter of Ricky and Nicole Magness, honorable mention prettiest smile; and Rachel Miller, daughter of Philip and Lisa Miller, prettiest glow.
The original field of 29 contestants was narrowed to 26 as Rylee Hilliard, Camerie Martin and Jessie Newby, opted to miss the pageant to play in their high school soccer team’s sectional game.
Ushers for the evening were Josh Clark, Andy Dunn, Tucker Slatton and Ethan Turner.
