F.C . Boyd Christian School recently had Lipscomb University admissions recruiter Reggie Blair come for a visit. He provided lunch for the junior and senior students and discussed college planning, admissions and scholarships. He gave each of them an admissions packet and T-shirt from Lipscomb. The students were very receptive to Mr. Blair’s presentation. One student commented, “He was very persuasive and I would like to go to school there.”
Boyd Christian School’s guidance counselor, Allison Stiles, began organizing a College Fair Day several weeks ago. When Blair was contacted about coming to Boyd’s College Fair Day in December, he immediately offered to bring lunch and visit with the students. The school is very grateful for Mr. Blair’s kindness, generosity, and the college information he shared with their students.
Stiles met with each senior student in September about college. They discussed their college plans, admission applications, scholarship applications, FAFSA, and life in general beyond school. Each of them received a packet with information from each student’s choice of colleges, scholarship applications, college admissions checklists, and follow-up thank you card recommendations. She plans to meet with each student again in December to monitor their progress with their applications and provide assistance/feedback.
Boyd Christian School provides college-preparatory instruction and curriculum in accordance with state standards. The school believes Christianity is a part of the student’s identity and should not be separated from academics, and that home and school should work together to instill Christian values. Boyd Christian School is looking forward to holding a College Fair Day on Dec. 4 for their high school students.
