The “Now Hiring” sign is hanging at Fazoli’s of McMinnville as the restaurant is looking to hire managers in preparation for its new restaurant opening here in February.
“We’re looking to hire at least four managers, maybe five or six if we can get good people,” said local Fazoli’s franchise owner Bill Townsend, a restaurant veteran. “They will be sent to Lexington, Ky., for 4-6 weeks for training.”
Townsend said managerial applications will be accepted in person at the restaurant at 814 Smithville Highway beginning Dec. 13.
“I know nowadays everybody wants you to apply online, so I guess what we’re doing would be called the old-fashioned way,” said Townsend of the in-person interviews.
Townsend has worked in the restaurant industry most of his life. He’s previously owned a Wendy’s franchise and currently owns six Captain D’s, although he does not own the Captain D’s in McMinnville.
The Fazoli’s in McMinnville is the first of three he plans on opening.
Townsend has already put considerable effort into transforming a building that was first a Bojangles and then a Grandy’s restaurant. The building has been painted and the parking lot has been resurfaced. New signage is expected to be put in place this coming week.
“This is not going to look like an old Bojangles,” Townsend stressed upon buying the property.
And it doesn’t.
Equipment is scheduled to arrive Jan. 24. That’s also the date Townsend says non-managerial employees will begin to be hired. The restaurant is expected to have a staff of about 70.
Fazoli’s is projected to open in McMinnville at the end of February. The 3,800-square-foot restaurant will mark the first-ever Fazoli’s in McMinnville and 17th location in Tennessee.
Fazoli’s is known for its fan favorites like baked spaghetti with meatballs, creamy fettuccine alfredo, fried mozzarella cheese skewers and its famous hot, fresh breadsticks which are served in endless supply. The restaurant is also developing a following for its pizza and wings.
