Warren County is no longer one of the state leaders in a bad statistic – high unemployment.

According to figures released Thursday by the state, Warren County unemployment dropped 2.3% from July to August. The county’s new unemployment rate is now 7.8%, putting Warren County about middle of the pack when it comes to Tennessee’s 95 counties.

Overall, unemployment rates decreased in 94 of Tennessee’s 95 counties in August.

According to Tennessee’s workforce development website, there are currently 219,000 open positions for all job skill levels.
