Woodbury Highway on home stretch

Signage, paving and lining are nearly complete on the westbound lanes of Woodbury Highway. Traffic is expected to be placed on the two westbound lanes in September while work is completed on the eastbound lanes.
The work on the new four-lane Woodbury Highway is in its home stretch as contractors hope to have the project finished by its scheduled Sept. 30 completion date. The $21 million project to construct the four-lane highway from Newtown to the top of Woodbury Mountain near State Route 281 began in September of last year and is covering just short of 13 miles. Prior to that time, extensive work was done to make Highway 70 through Newtown-proper four lanes.
