Baby shows and ice cream should be easy to find this Thursday as communities from Morrison to Midway hold Independence Day celebrations.
In maintaining a recent trend, scattered thunderstorms could play into the mix as the extended AccuWeather forecast calls for showers and a high temperature of 88 on Thursday.
Activities are scheduled to get underway first thing Thursday morning in downtown McMinnville with a pancake breakfast and 5K footrace.
Other traditional favorites include the Yankee Doodle Children’s Parade at 9:30 a.m. and the Mr. and Miss Stars and Stripes Pageant at 11 a.m.
It’s an all-day affair in Midway with the opening ceremony set for 10 a.m. and a fireworks display scheduled for 10 p.m. In between, a baby show will be held at 10:15 a.m. and a Beatles tribute band called Forever Abbey Road will perform at noon.
Morrison won’t get started until late afternoon with a 3:45 p.m. opening ceremony, followed by a baby show at 4 p.m. Live music begins at 7 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9 p.m.
The Fairview community traditionally holds its celebration the Saturday before July 4, but its activities were canceled this year. Organizers hope to have an Independence Day celebration next year.
